Some promising horses engaged here but going with #4 MERLIN [3.00] to go one better after his solid effort in mock race. This half bred to good type Colombiana will be hard to beat.
#4 GOVERNOR GENERAL [3.30] showed good improvement to finish 2nd this track last start. He looks suited by the step up in distance and is the one to beat. Appeals on weight.
Highly regarded and sparingly races #1 BOTTEGA LOUIE [4.00] came up short in classic events but looks progressive in handicaps. Her gallant effort in her last handicap event where she went down to Cambridge in stewards room was notable. She looks to have a class edge on her opposition and will be tough to beat despite conceding weights.
#3 JULIO CESARO [4.30] has speed and with blinkers on should give a sight from the good gate and gets his chance to break through after finishing on board in his past two starts. This doesn't look a strong race.
#3 KHARTOUM [5.00] finished his race off nicely when runner-up at mile trip resuming last start. Fitter second-up and still plenty of scope for improvement stepping up to the mile and a quarter.
#4 ARTUS had the run of the race to win stylishly last start at 1800m. Second horse ( Finest Moment) has won demolishing his opposition since so on that form line he can give this a shake.
Bangalore challenger #2 ESCALA [5.30]
stays strongly and comes to this with winning form. Go well again with Suraj flown in for only mount.
#9 BIG SUR ran a good race in much stronger grade (Indian Derby) last start. If he can hold his spot in the first half of the field he can upset. Has age and weight in favour.
#5 CHECKMATE [6.00] comes off outstanding wins at his last two starts here. Hard to go past.
