Mumbai & Kolkata 18/1/2020

Mumbai 18/1/2020

1.30 #3 TUDOR HALL was not beaten far into second last start at this C&D. Winner (Galloping Goldmine) & third placed horse  (Dumas) has since franked that form by winning in their subsequent starts. Based on that evidence this four-year-old could take plenty of beating off just 1kg higher in the rating.

2.00 #6 LABURNUM Showed up well for a long way on seasonal re-appearance at the beginning of this month when weakening in the closing stages; should be fitter and stronger here and one to note.

2.30 #8 LUMINOSITY ran his best race for a while when third over C&D last month and he could enter the reckoning. While got abroad son of Rip Van Winkle, #5 EGALITE respresents a top yard and is an interesting contender on first racecourse appearance. Keep an eye.

3.00 Ignore her last effort in grade 1 contest #5 MIRABILIS ran away with things in the closing stages over course and distance last to last time and Pesi Shroff’s  filly could repeat the feat off just 3.5kg  higher.

3.30 #4 GOLDEN GUEST finished a close-up second in similar company here last month as a favourite and a press of the repeat button may well suffice.

4.00 Godspeed filly #4 CALIFORNIA failed to justify favouritism on debut over C&D earlier this month but the experience gained is unlikely to have been lost on her and she could feasibly gain compensation second time out.

4.30 #8 HIDDEN GOLD caught the eye on his return from a break last month and he could be hard to beat this evening especially if Luminosity scores in third.

5.00 Got abroad fashionably bred filly #9 SEA THE DREAM will definitely relish the mile and a half trip and can give ace trainer his 8th oaks and 6th consecutive. A bigger danger to the selection, however, may be an another got abroad #5 JULIETTE , who has the staying pedigree and will appreciate the derby trip.

5.30 #1 RUMBA needed her debut run and now drops in grade. She’s open to stacks of improvement against these exposed runners hence a fair chance to oblige.

DAYS BEST: CALIFORNIA

GOOD BETS: TUDOR HALL/ MIRABILIS/ HIDDEN GOLD

GOOD LUCK
